How to make fresh ham / cabbage soup primal / paleo style

I guess this is a medium size.

Cover with water. We used RO water.

Salt to taste.

3 Whole chili peppers. (Optional)

Bring to a boil and simmer until the meat falls off the bone.

Turn occasionally.

The meat pulled back from the bone. I started chopping at the fat and meat. ~ 4 hours.

Clean the meat from the bones.

Take the loose chiles out while you can find them.

We used a whole organic cabbage, bunch of carrots and two onions.

Remove the outer leaves and stem, cut into 6 - 8 pieces.

Chop up onions and leave carrots in large chunks. Simmer.

Hours later.

This is when to add a sweet potato. We put some pepper in too.

Leave it in large chunks. If you wast to add cinnamon stick, now is a good time. I put the additional chilies and cloves in a tea bag to find easy later. You could use cheesecloth tied up.

Takes 8 - 10hours, but worth the time. Yummmmm!
