Is your closet filled with shoes that you never wear? Well, one company is seeking to sell you the only pair of shoes you will ever need that can be customized for any occasion. The company, called Shooz, was successfully crowdfunded and they have now finalized and released a customizable shoe line. Each shoe works by maintaining the same sole and base structure, where skin can then be zipped on to change the footwear for any occasion.

Naturally, there are going to be a lot of critics of a shoe that looks like a Frankenstein of footwear in certain skins, but it is nonetheless gaining a lot of footing.

"Shooz are made of a "Skin" and a "Sole which are detachable and interchangeable and allow you to create a style that’s perfect for you and perfect for any occasion. Whether you’re traveling, biking, running, working or just going out for a night on the town, you can carry around your flat-packed skins and customize Shooz to fit any occasion." ~ Shooz

In terms of price, these shoes present a fairly sizeable deal if you find yourself needing many pairs. The skins, or upper portion, cost around US$50 and up. The interchangeable base is presented in 5 different styles starting at about US$50 as well. If a normal pair of leather dress shoes cost around US$200, you could get yourself 3 unique pairs of Shooz for the same price, fitting any occasion.

It is an interesting approach to shoe design and one that is still yet to be seen if it will catch on. The innovation in this design is undoubtedly present, but the real question is whether it was necessary. Thousands of backers behind the shoe certainly think it was, and it looks like the designs are off to a good start in the shoe market.
